| This is
the Mayfield Singers first album, recorded live in 1995. It
begins with their own versions of Scottish folk songs such
as, My Love Is Like A Red Red Rose and Ca' The Yowes, moving on
to some Orkney and Shetland songs and finishing off with the Norwegian
dedication - four pieces written by Edvard Greig. |
There are no
instruments here - one large male/female vocal choir performing
an incredible mixture of material.
The Orkney
section alone spans extremes with Ally Windwick's 'Sleepy Laddie'
following Peter Maxwell Davies' 'One Star, At Last.' |
